Over the years, The Guardian Angels have empowered thousands of citizens to take responsibility for reclaiming their communities through the formation of local chapters.
Each chapter is comprised of volunteers that support the community through neighborhood patrols, education initiatives, role modeling, and liaising with other community organizations. If you think you might be interested in helping to transform your community, join us!

| John Ayala |  John Ayala "Unique" King Is a native New Yorker who was born in Brooklyn and raised in Staten Island. He grew up in a low-incolme neighborhood seeing drugs being sold in front of and behind every building. Most kids in the neighborhood belonged to a gang. At the age of 8, John joined the Young Marine Cadets as an alternative to the gangs. The Bruce Lee films he watched on Saturdays motivated him to begin learning Martial Arts.

 We wear our uniforms with pride!! Our red berets, t-shirts and jackets serve as visual deterrents to crime. We are a familiar sight on the mass transit systems, in drug-infested parks, housing complexes and on the street. Guardian Angels are trained in CPR First Aid, self -defense and what to do if we see a crime in progress. We work very close with the DC Police. We carry a MPDC Police radio, we train at the DC police academy and we will make a citizens arrest if needed.
